Eldon Housing provides sheltered housing, with flexible care, therefore enabling the tenants to have a home for life.
In our extra care schemes and flexible care schemes, we provide a domiciliary care service, which provides help and support to the tenants that require it. This care is reviewed every six months or more frequently if required to determine the needs of the tenants.
The care that we can provide includes assistance with personal care needs, bathing etc. They will assist with food preparation and prompting medication if required. Also assistance with domestic and laundry tasks.
The staff have all the necessary security checks such as Protection of Vulnerable Adults, Vetting & Barring and Criminal Records Bureau before they are allowed to commence work. The staff are trained in all mandatory subjects such as Moving and Handling, Elder Abuse, Food Hygiene, First Aid and Fire Protection and these are updated on a regular basis. Staff are also offered the opportunity to take their NVQ Level 2 in care and are supported and encouraged through this. There is also the opportunity to self develop and take extra training courses, to enhance their skills and knowledge, this could be training in Dementia, Parkinson’s Disease, HIV etc.
Eldon Housing Association work closely with Care Quality Commission (CQC) they inspect us every year to ensure that we are providing a good quality service and will advise us if there is room for improvement. The Association, as a Domiciliary Care Agency, has to work within the National Minimum Care Standards and Legislation and employs a Registered Care Manager who has been vetted and registered with CQC to ensure that this is adhered to.
